I have configured The Manor's Windows Terminal Server (TS) as a locked-down machine for security. Meaning, should a user be able to successfully logon to the TS, that user will only have access to specific programs which he or she is allowed to use remotely. This is accomplished using a variety of related things, including Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), and Scripts which I wrote.
Similarly, since we have machines used by Le Chef at the Manor for their Point of Sale and POS Back-End, a logical security measure is to apply Group Policy settings on their Organizational Unit (OU) in AD.
No My Computer, no Network Neighboorhood, No Control Panel, no Windows Explorer, no Command Prompt, No Help System, No context menu, etc. Only specific desktop shortcuts dynamically generated for them at logon are the ones that can be used.

Fixing Joomla! 1.5 Banners |

Not all banners are bad. For example, you want to use them to show different images of your organization on the corporate website. However, some users tend to be paranoid about these banners that anti-virus companies came up with ways how to block these banners from showing on websites visited. In my case, while developing our intranet site, the image gets replaced by a 1x1pixel .gif image. It was very frustrating at first but with some research, I was able to find the solution. I first saw it here .
Actually, there are two ways how to go about it.

Installed and configured Apache Tomcat today in preparation for web applications dependent on it which we will be implementing sometime in the future. Actually it was installed earlier but with some annoying errors and so I decided to reinstall it. Also, as I was somewhat dismayed with how Ubuntu performs on VMWare without the VMWare tools installed, I was finally relieved when I was able to find time to install it properly today. Now input devices are working well as well as my display now defaults to my chosen resolution. I was also able to fix the scroll mouse issue in Ubuntu. I am quite excited with the progress we are making in different areas. We are now evaluating Horde as a potential Groupware application for our intranet replacing another open source groupware application. This will also be installed in Ubuntu.

Aside from the expected workload of having to migrate local profiles to the new profiles as users logon to Active Directory, we are able to accomplish the following Windows Server Active Directory integration efforts: 1. Integration of OpenFire Real-Time Collaboration Server with AD 2. Integration of Joomla! CMS with AD
Earlier, we were able to integrate Thunderbird email client with Active Directory as well. Another technology milestone for The Manor.

Revising the Current Official Website |

Overall, the current official website is a dissapointment. I have tasked OJT Richard Tullao to revise the current (old) static web pages so that it will help in increasing web traffic, even prior to the implementation of the new website being prototyped mainly by OJT Paul Jericho Pajarito.
Goals:
- To increase traffic of cjhhotels.com
- Replace the current (old) website with static content to a Content Management System
Issues:
- The current cjhhotels.com is made up of static web pages... don't ask me why, because I don't know... it was there when I arrived and to be frank it is a pain in the neck to update information on these pages.
- Each page must be edited manually
- There are no keywords and description defined on each of these static web page
