ASIAN
LADIES GOLF TO BOOST BAGUIO TOURISM
The inaugural
Camp John Hay – Asian Ladies Team Championship scheduled
October 27-29 is expected to boost tourism in Baguio City
and the sport in the Philippines.
This
latest international tournament in the country, organized
by the Camp John Hay Golf Club headed by chairman Robert Sobrepeña,
will involve golf clubs in Asia, from around the country,
and the club members of the Women’s Golfers Association
of the Philippines (WGAP).
“We
are focusing on this tournament to promote Camp John Hay and
the whole city of Baguio as the premiere tourist destination
in the North,” Sobrepeña said.
Envisioned
as an annual event featuring Asia’s top lady golfers,
Sobrepeña said Asian teams will come from the People’s
Republic of China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore
and Indonesia, to name a few.
Competition
will be team and individual. Thirty (30) teams consisting
of six members and two alternates each will play. If it wants
more, they will have to be wait-listed.
Entry
fee, already inclusive of opening cocktails, giveaways, awards
night and free practice rounds, is P 4,000.00 each player.
Registration ends October 15.
Participating
teams may avail themselves of special accommodation packages
that the Camp John Hay Manor Hotel, John Hay’s 187-room
condotel facility, is offering during the competition.
