Social
Development Program
Medical
missions regularly conducted by CJH DevCo cover free medical
check-up, dental services and circumcision. |
The
development project for Camp John Hay is not centered on tourism
facilities but it reaches out to the community. The backbone
of the Social Development Program is to increase
opportunities for livelihood, make information and services
accessible and strengthen the spirit of community.
Medical
Missions are conducted regularly not only through
the efforts of the CJH Development Corporation but through
the pooling of resources with various civic groups in Baguio.
These missions offer dental services, medical check-ups, feeding,
and circumcision services. Total beneficiaries serviced to
date is 1,741. |
Workshops
and seminars along environmental principles are also being
offered to the community. Last December 2000, "Santa's
Workshop" kicked off with 35 children as training recipients
for the production of livelihood products made from available
raw and recyclable materials.
To
help the city in its efforts towards a cleaner environment,
CJH DevCo has organized and conducted a series of Walkathons
for the Balili Clean-Up Drive (held in 1999) and for the Clean
& Green Program of the City (held in 2000). Various Baguio-based
schools participated to make the walkathon a weekly activity
at the Scout Hill. Proceeds of the "walkathon for A Cause:
Balili River Clean-up" and "Little Steps for Cleaner
Baguio" went to Baguio Regreening Movement and Alay Sa
Kalinisan, respectively.
It
is a vision to strengthen the green consciousness and provide
the opportunity for the communities to develop green products
which can be utilized by the facilities within Camp John Hay
in keeping with its ecotourism policies: production |
