CAMP
JOHN HAY (1955-1990 )
On
17 November 1955, Camp John Hay was re-designated as John Hay Air
Base. Through the years, each succeeding commanders had built on
and improved this beautiful retreat in the mountains of Northern
Luzon. There are beautiful lodging, conference and recreation facilities
to serve the thousands of U.S. personnel who annually came to this
“Mountain Paradise.”
Camp
John Hay provided numerous recreational and club activities that
suit the needs of the visiting U.S. military of all ranks and their
families. Various types of outdoor sports were available.
The
John Hay golf course is one of the most beautiful, unique and unusual
18-hole golf courses in the world. The immaculate fairways and tenderly
kept greens invite the professionals and duffers alike. For non-golfers,
there were hiking trails, tennis courts, bowling lanes, mini-golf
course, indoor and outdoor roller skating rinks, volleyball and
basketball courts, full range weight and exercise rooms for men
and women, a neat library housing the audio and video tape center,
a clean and heated swimming pool, video arcade, RC race track and
a full complement recreation center for enjoyment and relaxation.

John Hay also prides itself with fine conference facilities fully
equipped with modern visual aids and comfortable settings. Among
the four conference facilities, the Main Club Conference Center
is the biggest and finest of all the conference facilities inside
Camp John Hay.
There
were more than thirty U.S. Air Force and civilian personnel who
were augmented by more than 550 local employees carrying out the
John Hay mission: “To provide the best rest and recreation
facilities and services to the visiting military and civilian members
of the Armed Forces and their families.”
